Thomas, Jewel Plan Tandem Tour
Thomas, Jewel Plan Tandem Tour
Barry A. Jeckell, N.Y.
Atlantic labelmates Rob Thomas and Jewel will combine forces for a seven-week tour that will open May 23 in Clearwater, Fla. Making it an Atlantic roster hat trick, Toby Lightman will support the most dates on the tour, which is slated to close July 7 in Kelseyville, Calif.
The tour will play two nights at early stops in Anderson, S.C. (May 27-28), and Atlanta (May 28-29), with Jewel appearing only the first night and Thomas only the second. Also, Thomas will miss a May 30 show in Myrtle Beach, S.C., a June 8 show in Vienna, Va., and a June 16 Niagara Falls show, while Jewel will skip a May 27 date in Jacksonville, Fla., and the tour's final two shows in Murphy's, Calif. (July 7) and Kelseyville.
For matchbox twenty frontman Thomas, he'll be out again behind last year's Melisma/Atlantic solo debut, "...Something To Be." The set bowed at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 1.3 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
For Jewel, the tour will start just a few weeks after the release of her first album in three years, "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland." As previously reported, the Rob Cavallo-produced disc is due May 2. Lead single "Again and Again" is No. 17 in its seventh week on Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart.
Lightman also has a new album on the horizon. Her sophomore Lava/Atlantic release, "Bird on a Wire," will emerge July 25 as the follow up to 2004's "Little Things." That set bowed at No. 14 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart and has sold 66,000.
